InvalidReportServerDatabaseException RS 2000

After upgrading to SP2, I get the following errors while tying to access the report server:

aspnet_wp!library!160!11/16/2006-15:04:07:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.InvalidReportServerDatabaseException: The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.6.43'. The expected version is 'C.0.6.54'. To continue, update the version of the report server database and verify access rights., ;
Info: Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.InvalidReportServerDatabaseException: The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.6.43'. The expected version is 'C.0.6.54'. To continue, update the version of the report server database and verify access rights.

The message would indicate that i need to run some scripts that possibly did not get run during the SP2 upgrade? I am running RS with a remote database.

Not sure why your database wasn't upgraded. That is supposed to happen automagically.

You should be able to generate a script with the RSConfigTool.exe that you can then run on the database manually.

Run RSConfigTool.exe

Choose Database Setup

Choose Script ...

Choose the appropriate values

InvalidOperationException in ReportItem.set_RenderingInfo

I have an exception being thrown during the set_RenderingInfo call as show
in the following stack trace:
Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.

Microsoft.ReportingServices.ReportRendering.ReportItem.set_RenderingInfo(Object
value)
at
Exony.ReportingServices.Rendering.RenderingProviders.HtmlRenderingFactory.PreRender(RenderContext
context, ReportItem item) in
c:\dev\source\reporting\main\app\exony.reportingservices.rendering\renderingproviders\htmlrenderingfactory.cs:line

I really need to understand why this is happening and how I can avoid it so
looking at the code I expect the bit in question (inside the
ReportItem.set_RenderingInfo function) is:
if (!this.m_renderingContext.InPageSection)
{
if (this.m_intUniqueName == 0)
{
throw new InvalidOperationException();
}
}
What is m_intUniqueName for and what is causing it to be '0'?
Many thanks,
James SnapeHi James,
Thanks for your email.
I have noticed you are developing your won rendering extension.
UniqueName is A string that uniquely identifies this report item
ReportItem
UniqueName=0 means it is not initilized correctly due to some issues when
contrsucting.
Constructors for all subtypes of ReportItem require two arguments: Name
(String) and UniqueName (String). These properties cannot be set after the
report item is created.
Since customized rendering extension is not officially support at present,
I would like to introduce you to the CSS Advisory Services team.

I am writing a rendering extension because our customers have decided they
don't like the default HTML rendering that comes with Reporting Services.
Regarding rendering extensions being unsupported, can you point me to the
EULA or other document that states this because reporting services books
online seems to suggest it is a standard part of the product
(ms-help://MS.RSBOL80.1033/RSPROG/htm/rsp_prog_extend_security_87oi.htm). It
does mention that the documentation is not yet available but not that it is
unsupported.
The advisory services seems a little expensive to ask a question of plus I

Invalid XML Elements found inside cync block

I'm receiving the following error when attempting to execute an
updategram using SQL 2005 and SQLXML 4.0
FrostingModel.Tests.Artist.InvalidConcurrencyUpdate :
Microsoft.Data.SqlXml.SqlXmlException : HRESULT="0x80004005"
Description="Invalid XML elements found inside sync block"
Here is my updategram.
<u>
<updg:sync mapping-schema=".\Schemata\Artist.xsd" nullvalue="NULL"
xmlns:updg="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-updategram">
<updg:before>
<ns1:Artist updg:id="0" ArtistID="1716"
UpdateStamp="AAAAAAAADUw=" xmlns:ns1="urn:Frosting" />
</updg:before>
<updg:after>
<ns1:Artist updg:id="0" ArtistID="1716" Name="Blah Blah Update"
xmlns:ns1="urn:Frosting" />
</updg:after>
</updg:sync>
</u>
And here is the accompanying schema:
<xsd:complexType name="Artist">
<xsd:attribute name="ArtistID" type="xsd:int" use="required"
sql:identity="ignore" sql:datatype="int" />
<xsd:attribute name="Name" type="xsd:string" use="optional"
sql:datatype="nvarchar" />
<xsd:attribute name="UpdateStamp" use="optional" dt:type="bin.hex"
sql:datatype="timestamp" sql2:concurrency="UseValue" />
</xsd:complexType>
It should be noted that if I use concurrency on the Name attribute, it
works as expected. However I would prefer to use a timestamp - it's
the timestamp that seems to be the big proverbial pain in the arse.
I can't seem to find any solutions online regarding this problem... any
takers?
- ryan.Okay...
I changed my UpdateStamp value to be something like 0x000000000000101A
and the updategram worked as expected. However this doesn't make any
sense, because SQL 2005's FOR XML EXPLICIT returns the timestamp value
in a 12 character format such as "AAAAAAAADUw=", not in the above
format.
Am I missing something, or is this a bug in SQLXML 4.0 / SQL 2005? How
is it that SQL 2005 can emit a timestamp value in that "AAA..." format,
but it can't accept it? Do I have to do some type of conversion on my
client side after I receive the timestamp value from sql server?
Any help would be appreciated,
- cranley

Invalid Use of Null

I am getting the "Invalid use of Null" message when I execute the following code under the following conditions.

fields in SQL Server table
db_date varchar(30) --> "December 29"
db_subject varchar(200) --> "Test Subject"
db_thought text --> "This is a test to see if this works"

I execute the following code from VB6

strText = "select * from db_table where db_date = 'December 29'"
ors.open strText, dbConnect
if not ors.eof then
if not isnull(ors("db_thought")) then
txtBox1 = ors("db_thought")
end if
end if

Here is my problem. Since there is a value in db_thought the code if not isnull(ors("db_thought")) evaluates to true -- this is what I expect. However when I try to assign the ors("db_thought") to the txBox1 field I get an Invalid use of Null. What am I missing?

ThanksWhat happens if you change the if statement to:

if isnull(...) then
txtField1 = ""
else
txtField1 = ...
end if

Also, put in a msgbox before the assignment to display the value or look at it in debug mode under locals.|||Originally posted by rnealejr

I tired your suggestion, and I get the same results. It appears that the test to see if there is information in the field is testing to be true, but the attempt to read from the field is saying that the information is null. I have rechecked the database to see if there is valid data in the field and I see data there.

invalid syntax near keyword default (was "Why do I get the following error?")

select * from CurrencyMaster where default=true
invalid syntax near keyword default.You cannot have a reserved word as a field name without enclosing it in brackets.
Therefore :

select * from CurrencyMaster where default=true
doesn't work, and
select * from CurrencyMaster where [default]=true

will probably work. (Haven't tested it myself tho...)

Invalid Semantic Model

Hello

While following the instructions on the tutorial "Creating a Report Model Based on an Analysis Services Cube", I got this error when trying to create the report model:

The semantic model is not valid. Details: The element 'Entity' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2004/10/semanticmodeling' has incomplete content. List of possible elements expected: 'IdentifyingAttributes' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2004/10/semanticmodeling'. (InvalidSemanticModel)

I have tried to use a SSAS cube of my own, which is working fine and tried to create a model based on it so I can create ad-hoc reports.

Parameters chosen on the data source creation:

Connection Type: Microsoft SSAS

Connection String: Data Source=localhost\SQL2005;Initial Catalog="TAP Analysis"

Connect Using: Windows Integrated Security

To SSAS using the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, I use Windows Authentication.

In the model creation, I have tried to switch to other credentials, but the error still remains... Can you help me with this one?

Thanks

Andr

I have the solution.

After the opening of the case in microsoft, this problem was analysed by the support teams and I got an answer today.

The problem seems to be one relationship i've built between a fact table and a dimension table.

In the current release of SSRS and SSAS, a relationship from one entity to another is implicitly to the key of the destination entity.

I was using a Time dimension (the dimension key was "day") and I was building a relationship based on the attribute "month".

So, the relationship was ignored and my fact table had no relationships and therefore, no identifyers, and that was the cause of the problem.

The solution for my case was relating the month to the first day of the month in the Time table.

I was told Microsoft plans to lift such limitation on the next releases.

Hope this helps for anyone with similar problems

Invalid schema or catalog specified for provider 'SQLOLEDB'

Hi,
I'm getting the following message when querying a database of a second
sql server.
"Invalid schema or catalog specified for provider 'SQLOLEDB'.

This does not occur when querying other databases from the second

The name of the database as i can see in the enterprise manager has a
different name than the database's filename.

If the second server (linked server i guess, or do you use a openquery or
opensource statement =) is a sql server you should check the owner of the
database objects you are quering for, perhaps they are created under a
special user account. ?

If your server is SP4 and the server you are conenction to is SP3 and
earlier, the catalogue stored procedures are out of date.
Run Instcat.sql, using the copy on the SP4 server against the SP3 server.

Both machines are sp4. Like i said earlier. It doesn't occur when
querying other databases on the second server. The only difference i can
see is that the database has a different filename than the databasename.

Invalid operation for the current cursor position

Our developers are getting the following error posted from several Java
applications.
[Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC] Invalid operation for the
current cursor position
Is anyone familiar with this error?

It can occur when you try to access result set data without ever
having called next(). If you can show us the whole original stack trace
of the exception and the code that caused it, we can probably see the problem.

|||Joe - you are correct. The developer was not validating that there was an
actual row. Thanks a bunch

Invalid object name error while constructing sql using datarelation

Hi mates

I am getting the following error "Invalid object name 't1'.Invalid object name 'relT1T2'."
from this line of code " String SQLREL = "SELECT t1.SubCategory2Name, t1.CityName, SubCategory2Name,relT1T2.N FROM " +
"t1 INNER JOIN relT1T2 ON t1.PKSUBCAT2ID = relT1T2.FKSUBCAT2ID";"

i am basically using datarelation and the relation is working fine and is showing all the data for the parent and child tables but while constructing sql i get above mentioned error.can some one pls help me out.

the full code is given below:

DataColumn parentCol;
DataColumn childCol;

parentCol = ds11.Tables["t1"].Columns["PKSUBCAT2ID"];
childCol = ds11.Tables["t2"].Columns["FKSUBCAT2ID"];

DataRelation relT1T2;
relT1T2 = new DataRelation("T1T2", parentCol, childCol);

ds11.Relations.Add(relT1T2);

Response.Write(ds11.Tables["t1"].Rows.Count);

foreach (DataRow rowParent in ds11.Tables["t1"].Rows)
{
foreach (DataRow rowChild in rowParent.GetChildRows(relT1T2))
{
Response.Write(ds11.Tables["t1"].Rows.Count);//test code
DataView dv1 = ds11.Tables["t1"].DefaultView;

String SQLREL = "SELECT t1.SubCategory2Name, t1.CityName, SubCategory2Name,relT1T2.N FROM " +
"t1 INNER JOIN relT1T2 ON t1.PKSUBCAT2ID = relT1T2.FKSUBCAT2ID";

DataSet ds77 = new DataSet();
SqlConnection cn77 = new SqlConnection(CONN1);
cn77.Open();
SqlDataAdapter da77 = new SqlDataAdapter(SQLREL, cn77);
da77.Fill(ds77);

DataList1.DataSource = ds77.Tables[0].DefaultView;

DataList1.DataBind();
cn77.Close();

Hi gurjeetsaini,

Could you please post your connection string "CONN1" here please?

Also, it seems to me you are drive data from your datarelation class, Based on my understanding, datarelation class is not designed for that purpose (it only represent relationships between tables in a dataset, it cannot be used like tables or datasets).

Hope my suggestion helps

Invalid object name 'dbo.MSreplication_queue'.

I am attemption to update a record in a SQL 2005 table that is trans.
replicated with updates and I am receiving the following message...
Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_MSsendtosqlqueue, Line 40
Invalid object name 'dbo.MSreplication_queue'.
Any ideas?
AHIA,
Larry...
Does the table dbo.MSreplication_queue exist in the subscribing database ?
In updatable scription scenerio, SQL Server fires ins/upd/del triggers which
will insert information into that table when a DML command is executed on the
replicated tables. So this table is one of the critical tables for the queue
replication to work.
I can think of only 2 reasons why you might be running into this error :
1. The table dbo.MSreplication_queue has been deleted. To see if the table
was dropped, take a look at the default trace report for the database "Schema
Changes Histroy" in the Management Studio.
or
2. The snapshot did not get applied to the subscriber successfully. Check
the distribution agents histroy to see if there has been any failures.

Invalid Object Name ctsv_####...

DB Gurus,

I have a VB 6 utility that is using ADO to connect to replicated tables and I get the following error when I try to update the recordset:

Invalid Object Name 'ctsv_18C3929C22...'

This code worked great until the team that owns one of our SQL servers decided to turn of Replication. After getting replication back up and running, we set up a push subscription rather than a pull as before.

The util is running against the subscriber's tables...not the source tables.

What the heck have I gotten into here?

What does ctsv mean?

Thanks,
GregGood question, what the heck is it? Also make sure you fully qualify table names with schema owner. Maybe that's what it's barking at...

invalid object name (sql server

I am attempting to call a user defined function from a stored procedure in the same database, and I get the following error:

Invalid object name 'dbo.fn_NewSplit'.

I've tried calling it as dbo.fn_NewSplit, fn_NewSplit etc. I also setup another that had my DB login IE ihomesm_maindb.fn_NewSplit and get the same results.

Interestingly there is another previously built stored procedure calling the same function with apparantly no problems.

Also, I have tried to execute this stored procedure with both my .net application and within the query analyzer with the same error.

Can you post the function code as well as your TSQL calling the function?

Well, thank you Sql Server developers, my issue wasn't that the object name wasn't valid, it was that I was not calling it correctly (I should have called the function within a SELECT statement in my case) the last question lead me to the answer.

Invalid namespace

I'm getting the following error message when I tried to configure Reporting Services in 2005 SQL:

"No report servers were found on the specified machine.

Invalid namespace" Any assistance to get over this hurdle will be appreciated!

We have the same problem. Our reportserver suddenly went down and now shows this problem.

invalid login packet

Hello,
I get the following message every once in a while.
Connection opened but invalid login packet(s) sent. Connection closed..
Error: 17832, Severity: 20, State: 10
This is a SBS 2000 with SQL 2000. I do not have a clue on what is
generating this message. I have not found any information about the State:
10. Any help would be helpful.
Thank You,

Hi Joe,
Basically, this means that a session was setup to the Server, but the
login packet was either not sent, or incomplete. I would check the version
of MDAC on the machine and verify that you have the security update
installed.

Invalid Logical Page

When trying to DTS a table (Auth_Details) from one database to another, I received the following error message:
