invalid report server database

I'm trying to install the developer edition of SQL Reporting Services in a
developer edition of SQL 2000. I keep getting the error message
"rsInvalidReportServerDatabase" and the expected version is 'C.0.6.54'. I do
a complete uninstall, manually remove the database and log files, and attempt
another install, but keep getting an error that I need to run rsactivate.
When I do I get the error that the Report Web service has not generated a
public key. I unchecked the require SSL during install. When I run the report
manager I get the invalid report server database. Any help will be
appreciated. The problem is that I changed the name of the machine and needed to update
Security with the SQL logon of the new <local machine>\ASPNET account and
set the database access for Master, ReportServer, ReportServerTempDB to
RSExecRole. If anyone gets this same error, you may want to check your
ASPNET logon in SQL server.

Invalid Instance Name while trying to install MSDE

I am running XP SP2. I have downloaded MSDE (SQL Sever 2000) to put on my
laptop for training purposes. When I try to load the setup program I get an
error message saying "The Instance Name Specified Is Invalid" and then when I
acknowledge the message the install exits. I have searched for and tried to
understand the post that seem to relate to my problem but I am just not
knowledgable enough to understand what to do. If someone would please tell me
(in baby steps) how to fix this problem so I can install MSDE then I would
really appreciate it. If you need ANY additional information please feel free
to contact me and I will respond immediately. Your time and attention is very
much appreciated.
Thank you for your help...premium001
Read into the readme file in your extracted folder.
If there is an instance of SQL Server already installed, the MSDE should be
named.

as <zhaounknown> already wrote, please read the proviede ReadmeFile... it
explains you have to provide a set of parameters to the setup.exe boostrap
installer..
typically you have to provide the SAPWD="your strong password" as you are
forced to protect "sa" login ...
you can specify if you like to enable network connections
(DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0), if you like to permit standard SQL Server
authenticated connections (SECURITY MODE=SQL) as the default does not permit
them to be authenticated, or if you like to install a named instance
(INSTANCENAME="the name").. and please enable verbose logging of the
installation task providing the /L*v "c:\Msde.txt" parameter, which results
in an about 2Mb text file you can inspect for
RETURN VALUE 3
entries indicating troubles... about 10/20 lines before and/or after each
entry some (sometime cryptic) description of the problem will be logged..
so, if you like to install a named instance (named "MSDE") with enabled
networkprotocols and enabling SQL Server authenticated connections you have
to provide something similar to
C:\MSDERelaA\>setup.exe INSTANCENAME="MSDE" SECURITY MODE=SQL
DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0 SAPWD="your strong password" /L*v "c:\Msde.txt"
all on the same line from the command promt

Invalid Database after SP1 Install

We applied SP1 and now are getting the following error:
The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not
valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.6.51'. The expected
version is 'C.0.6.43'. To continue, update the version of the report server
database and verify access rights. (rsInvalidReportServerDatabase)
Is there a remedy for this?SP1 has to be applied both where you develop application and on the server.
Have you applied SP1 at both places?
Give a little more info on your configuration.

up having to uninstall Reporting Services and reinstall it. Then we import
the database from our backup that was done prior to application of the SP.

Introduce Hebrew collation to a shelf application

Here are 2 questions:
1. Can I install MSDE2000 with Hebrew collation (Hebrew_CI_AI) and how exactly it is done
2. Can I assume that a new application which creates it's database on the MSDE2000 take the Hebrew collation by inheritance
Thanks

1. Yes. You would pass COLLATION="Hebrew_CI_AI" on the MSDE setup command
line. See
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...us/distsql/dis
tsql_84xl.asp for details.
2. It depends on the application. If (a) the app's setup routine creates
its own database by running scripts instead of attaching an already
existing database, and (b) if the scripts don't hard-code a collation in
the CREATE TABLE statements, then yes, the app's database will use the
instance-level collation. But if the app's setup scripts hard-code a
particular collation, the hard-coded collation will be used for the newly
created tables. If the app simply attaches an pre-created database, the
instance-level collation won't apply, either.
